Ravel Left-Hand Concerto
on: September 16, 2009, 06:02:12 AM
I am in love with this piece and am starting to work on it. I was surprised to find, however, that there is not very much about it on this website. It could just be that I am not having any luck finding the information of course, but does anyone have any experiences with this piece good or bad? Favorite recordings? Why is it not done more often? Looking forward to hearing about it! Thanks.

Perhaps there isn't much on this particular forum, but this is a widely played piece, actually. It has been recorded by many major artists. Perhaps it isn't as popular as the one Ravel wrote for two hands, but in my opinion it is better and is still very popular. If you want a left hand concerto that isn't played often, take a look
here
. Pretty much all of the ones that aren't the Ravel are underplayed, and many of them are still quite good, but I digress. My favorite recording is Krystian Zimerman's, by far. I have heard many recordings, but only his seems to satisfy me.
