Beautifully played, andhow! Very nice!!
I love this song very much (well, I guess I'm not alone with that...), though I think nowadays it works much better in the more abstract form of instrumental transcription than in its original form. Not many composers had the skill of writing music that would immediately perceived as "folk music" tunes that have been around forever, like Brahms did with this cradle song.
Personally, I think this Cortot transcription is nice, but borderline kitschy -- to many repetitions of the theme, and especially the arpeggios are a bit too much for my taste. Of course this is still a very tasteful transcription of this theme compared to some others, e.g. there is a free paraphrase on this theme by Schuett (or Schuette?), brrrr... My personal favorite is the short one by Reger, which simply keeps the gently rocking accompaniment of the original. But of course it's good to have (and be able to listen to) alternatives!!
