Clarinet Music
on: September 24, 2009, 11:59:22 PM
I'm an intermediate Clarinetist. I'm in the band at school. they give us some music, but it can get boring playing the same thing over and over again. Where can I get some good clarinet sheet music for free?

Try
IMSLP
.
What exactly are looking for? Fast pieces, slow pieces, baroque, classical, romantic, etc? Perhaps we can offer some suggestions.

Ask your band director. The school probably has clarinet etude books you can buy.
Or a real clarinet teacher.
Or the music store, if you want some pop stuff.
There's jazz too.
There are etudes for all instruments, but piano is one of the few who had nearly everyone writing it. So some instruments have less interesting etudes. More etude-like and less music-like.
Whoops. You said free though. I really would check with your band director. There is usually a file drawer full of music and they'll let you borrow it.

John Chance - Variations on a Korean Folk Song.
I remember playing this. The Clarinet part has its challenges.
If you want something with more edge:
David Holsinger - Abram's Pursuit
polyrhythms, hemiolas, multiple time signatures etc. Coordination with the other parts is tricky.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
