"Marriage" theme's
on: October 09, 2009, 07:57:48 AM
Hello there,

Anyone knows about (solo) piano pieces with "Marriage" as a theme? I mean, maybe some composers wrote a bridal march for piano?  ;D Or maybe someone wrote a piece as a gift for a marriage, engagement.. or maybe you know plays you defintely want to hear at a wedding for instance?

All ideas are much appreciated... I'm  thinking of organising a mini recital/concert for our wedding. I've several pieces I like a lot (rach, beethoven, chopin etc)..but wonder if there are specific compositions written for this kind of "event"? Therefore you need to know a bit about the background of a composition... i'm sure there are some players here who can give me some nice tips!

thanks a lot already!

Hi Clicquot

Two suggestions;

Linda Kerby wrote some nice stuff which may be appropriate, here is the link https://www.kerbymusic.org/topics.php

And, Derek Bourgeois wrote a piece for his wedding for organ called “Serenade” but you will have to pay for it… I’ve never seen an arrangement for piano though. But a quick email to Derek wouldn’t hurt if you wanted to find out derekbourgeois@gmail.com. You can listen to the music for the wind band from here https://gmbrand.casualrain.com/description.php?cat=10062
