I like the tempo and again I think the sound you get from the piano is good.  Somebody posted this piece a few months back and their tempo was very fast, one had the impression they just wanted to do something different, and this is refreshing in its simplicity.

I didnt intend to post this but I just read the above mentioned post about that "somebody" and couldnt resist the temptation. This is a live concert recording on a better piano, in Mykonos, Greece, 2-3 months after my first public attempt on it so it's a little more accurate/improved and it reflects my view about it in a better way.

Comments are welcome as always, especially if your first name is Walter!  :)

I very much enjoyed this.  How come its so similar in style to Erlkönig?

I like the way you play it at this speed, or a fast interpretation its a good one.
But its a pity that some parts of this piece arent as pretty as they should be, purely because of the speed.

Nice job,

Once I was invited to vacation in the Greek Isles (Paros).  I'm glad I didn't go.

I wonder if you could play this faster?  It might be interesting, plus you might get to the after-concert champagne sooner.

Wrong note at 1:32...

Of course I can play it faster! Da! No champagne after this concert, thought the very nice people who organized it took me out to dinner!

Yup, that was hard on my piano ego - bass note wrong damn!!!! but there is also a second one quasi-wrong at 1:48! Alas and boo to me!  :(

Thaks gyzz. The point is not about speed per se or correctness but about music, and people not too preconceived on how this impromptu should be played were and are able to see a possibly different perspective on it.

It's not being different what is important but being able to see things as if no one has ever seen them before - I insist that if there were not a thousand recordings of it before mine you wouldnt find this too fast (mr. Walter...)!

Rest my case!

I think that in a way it is. Thank you highcrappile.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
