i did a search for this topic and found that this question has been asked but not answered in the past.

does anyone know anything about cable-schiller piano company? are they any good? and how would a baby grand from cable compare to a yamaha upright?

Yes, I know it very well.

I played a Cable 5 ft. grand from age 8 to 18, family owned. We rebuilt it once, a new sound board. That was many years ago (about 1969 last).

In today's world, this is at best a poor piano even if fully restored. Poor action, sluggish. Poor sound: no duplex strings. Bad pin block and pin arrangement and materials, is difficult to impossible to keep in tune. If a Steinway is an A grade, a Baldwin a B, a Yamaha a C, a Kawai
and a Young-Chang and a 'Boston' a C-, and a Samik a D, then I would say Cable is also a D.
