I need a really good composition book
on: October 24, 2009, 05:54:10 AM
I need a very thick composition book and a good one.

I cannot relate to fellow Pianostreet members anymore.
I cannot understand music theory anymore.

there are available in the internet but I cannot guarantee.
If it was your college book
Give the ISBN number.

I AM SERIOUS

There are many approaches to composing.  None of them should be considered as the correct way to do it.   Use the method that best suits you.  A composition teacher would probably be far more beneficial for you as the both of you could establish a dialogue.

What you probably need is a good music theory book.  You need to learn the vocabulary that musicians speak.  Your compositions do not have to follow any established music theory at all, you just have to be able to communicate using specific terms and concepts which most musicians are familiar with.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Something like that Quantum,

Tnx, but

What I am up to is orchestration and drum theory.
Or if not, the history and types of music.

For orchestration I like referring to this book:
https://www.amazon.ca/Instrumentation-Orchestration-Alfred-Blatter/dp/0028645707

This is widely used in universities for Western Music history (although my prof preferred something else):
https://www.amazon.com/History-Western-Music-Donald-Grout/dp/0393979911
