The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

In the U.S.

I suppose Austrailian too.

I was just thinking when I think of an ethnic minority in the U.S., eastern European or Russian doesn't pop into mind right away.  But that whole area of Euroasia is huge.  And it's own culture.  Or groups of cultures.

But when I think of ethnic minority, it's Hispanic, Latino, African, Asian... That Slavs are lumped in with Europe? (white and European enough to be in with "Europe?") Or into Asia or Arab maybe.

Or there aren't enough people from there in the U.S. to even make a minority, but I'm doubting that.

It just seems odd.  Why isn't there a Euro-asian minority in the U.S.?  If there is, I never hear about it.  Not that I know of.

And I guess the Austrailians aren't coming here or would be considered English still.

In the US, most people considered "white" are really a mix of a bunch of different European ethnicities, and I'm sure Slavs would be in there. My roommate, for example, is Czech-Belgian-something-else-I-don't-remember. A lot of Europe is represented in America, but to find a given country represented in its pure form can be difficult for some of them.

What about Russian though?  Would the entire country (or grouping) still be considered European?  It's almost (or is) Asia or the Middle East in some places.

In England, Asian and Eastern Europeans are no longer an ethnic minority.
