Looking for a Samuel Feinberg score.
on: November 01, 2009, 12:17:06 AM
Hi - I'm looking for pdf scans of Feinberg's Etudes, Op.11 (at least #1 and #4). They date from 1919 and appear on my just received Altarus CD (AIR-CD-9034) of Christophe Sirodeau playing the world premiere recording Feinberg's Piano Concerto #1 and assorted solo piano works.

Thanks to anyone who might have these etudes!

Thanks, but I have that score, and was just discovering that the 1st Suite, Op.11 has no Etudes (specified, and my Rusky is rusty!), but I looked & listened closely (once) and while the 2nd and 4th sections of Op.11 appear to be similar to the recording I'm so far not convinced that I'm reading what I hear. But it wouldn't be the first time! ::)

I'll go back and study the score and recording more carefully - today has been hellish, and I just managed to read thru the Feinberg 1st Concerto moments ago. In many ways it's overall construct is not dissimilar to Rachmaninoff or Prokofiev, yet the "atmosphere" is quite different, yet not as unique as SF's most advanced style, and while following the 2-piano score (of Concerto #1) I sometimes felt sympathy for anyone attempting to accompany the soloist, as Piano 2 has some massive task to undertake to prepare for a work like this!

I'll do more research and see if stress & confusion obfuscated the fact that I have the requested score at hand.

Thanks for the suggestion!
