Shuffle Rhythm
on: November 03, 2009, 03:58:35 AM
Hey all, I'm trying to perfect the shuffle rhythm in the blues style and I am having a lot of trouble getting right and left hand differentiation. Does anybody have any good practice exercises to help with this? Thanks in advance.

Coordination issue?  If that's it, just come up with patterns to break the right hand away from the left.  Both doing the same rhythm, RH only on the beat, RH every other beat, RH with a rhythm like beat shuffle beat shuffle, etc.  And vice versa too for switching hands.  Have the RH subdivide the beat.  And practice, like scales, until you can do it automatically and the other hand can do something different and out of time.
