Youtube Music Resources Compendium
on: November 07, 2009, 08:24:33 PM
Hi. I thought it would be useful for a lot of people to compose a list of accounts on youtube that serve as a resource for music, whether for listening pleasure or purely education.
Unfortunately, I don't listen to a lot of music that predates 1900, but I'd like to provide a few accounts that would be useful to people interested in or looking to get acquainted with Modern and/or contemporary music, hoping maybe you guys could post some links to accounts that upload a lot of more... accessible music (posted in alphabetical order so-as not to seem too self-serving lol):
https://www.youtube.com/user/alexikus08
About 50 videos, limited variety, no emphasis, only piano music
About 250 videos, wide variety, Modernist and Italian School emphasis, chamber music emphasis
About 250 videos, wide variety, no emphasis, orchestral emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/Hexameron
About 350 videos, limited variety, Russian Futurist emphasis, almost solely piano
https://www.youtube.com/user/John11inch
About 850 videos, wide variety, Post-Darmstadt/Cologne and Spectral emphasis, piano emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/minirausch
About 100 videos, medium variety, Minimalist and Post-Modern emphasis, chamber music emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/MrRaph87
About 500 videos, wide variety, 1900-1950 emphasis, orchestral emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/NewMusicXX
About 400 videos, medium variety, 1980-2000 emphasis, orchestral emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/sciprio
About 100 videos, medium variety, Neoclassical and South American emphasis, orchestral emphasis
https://www.youtube.com/user/Wellesz
About 1700 videos, medium variety, Italian School and Late Romantic emphasis, no emphasis
Anyway, was wondering if someone else had some good channels they've come across that they'd like to share.

If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

Well, I am working on adding a bit more 21st century and pre-romantic, possibly.
