Searching for recording of ...
on: November 15, 2009, 01:54:40 AM
I've amassed a decent collection of N. Medtner's piano music, but there's (at least) one work I can't find a single recording of.

Of his Op.10, "3 Dithyrambs", I can find only recordings of the 2nd and 3rd - it's Op.10, #1 that I would really like to hear. I can't play the score, but in reading about the 3 Dithyrambs, they would seem to have a relationship to each other, and that relationship can't be fully realized without hearing all 3 pieces.

So if anyone can locate this work, please let me know!  8)

Many thanks,

Lontano

Here is something you may find useful:

https://www.medtner.org.uk/op10.html

I have the Gunnar Sama recording and he does a fine job on his Medtner CD. I would highly recommend it to anyone. In addition to doing a fine job on these pieces, he does a fine job on the famous Op. 20 Fairy Tales (both of them).

Since I wrote this request I did run across the Sama CD listing. I've spent a lot of $$$ on Medtner recently, and it hurts that I may have to buy an imported one, just to get this one neglected piece (I have at least one recording of all the other works on the Sama CD). But thanks for the link and info. I'll keep it in mind.
