just questions
on: November 21, 2009, 07:11:36 AM
so i was just wondering how long it takes everybody to familiarize themselves with a piece like bach's 7th fugue bk I in e flat major sufficiently to at least avoid pausing and unfamiliarity with how the piece goes cos apparently it took me 5-10 mins of unattentive sorta dreamy or hypnotized attempting the piece for the first time to play the entire piece with lots of fingering flaws but enough familiarity to play uninterrupted with the score

Well, why don't you let us hear your amazing sight-reading abilities?  However,  I don't quite understand what you're driving at.  There are as many levels of sight-reading as there are pianists.  And good sight-reading doesn't necessarily mean good pianist...

i would but i wouldnt even think of publicizing my horrible technique fingering and concentration cos they seriously hamper my progress and make my sightreading skills seem useless but its what i consider a talent in a certain aspect of music if u know what i mean

I'm sure there are people who'd sight read it in longer than "5-10 minutes", but could sight read the hell out of some other stuff from different composers... it really depends on the person.
