Black Grand Piano by Schylling good or bad idea?
on: November 27, 2009, 06:34:21 PM
Hi,
As a parent of very young children, I have noticed the keen interest of my 3 and 1/2 year old in piano. Like many other parent I want to encourage her but have a very limited budget and wish to be sure of her interest before we move to the next step financially. Can anyone tell me if a "Black Grand Piano by Schylling" which is more a toy, I know, than a piano is something good enough for her to start let's say for a few months until we can get her something better? Or she is better off with nothing at all until next year? Thank you for your input!

I would never bring a toy piano into our home. The tones are not real, and they are not musical. To be fair though, I am not familiar with the instrument you mentioned. I would advise waiting until you can get a real piano or a good keyboard. Children need to learn to respect the instrument, and not think of it as a toy. I think they also would be better off hearing what a piano really sounds like, not a toy sound. There is much music you can teach your three year old without actually having a piano.
