The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Keith Emerson - Lachesis

Hello friends!

Do you know this piece called “Lachesis ” written by Keith Emerson?

Keith Emerson was the leader of the successful progressive rock group called ELP.
He plays keyboards.

Several times he has approached to composing academic piano pieces and he also wrote a piano concerto that was recorded by with the London Philharmonic.

I want to know your opinion about this piece:

The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

I thought this piece was fabulous ever since I first heard it on the ELP album in 1970.

Needs more KC, less EL&P.
If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

I'm not sure if the answer is here, but this is a link to an interview with Emerson discussing his younger days as well as raising 2 boys and how he approached the issue with them.
