on: January 11, 2010, 03:19:04 PM

WazaHi All

Hi all

I'm wondering how do I find a piano teacher. I'm in Edinburgh city. But I was wondering how others find there's.

I've looked in the local newspaper and on google but there is only a handfull.

Check your local music schools and ask them for details of their programs. You may also visit the music department at universities or other higher education institutions (maybe even local library). They often do not have to advertise because they have the students come to them, it is private teacher that you will tend to find advertising their services. No matter how you go about finding your teacher it is always a "hit and miss" affair, not all the teachers you come across will work well with you or you with them. Good luck!

Good sources are:
(1) music stores, especially piano dealers
(2) piano tuners and piano restorers; call them up and ask them
(3) local universities and colleges, and especially community colleges
(4) music teachers' associations
(5) there's also a link on my Home page below to the largest list of teachers that I know.  If someone knows of a larger one, let me know.
