Peters Edition - cheapskate binding?
on: January 26, 2010, 07:53:28 PM
I bought some music published by Peters today - the Schumann piano trios (only way to get them currently, apart from downloads) and noticed the piano score has a cheapskate 'perfect' binding - the type where individual sheets are stuck to the spine with glue, so that after a few uses the score is liable to fall apart (as per Kalmus opera scores, for instance, and most stuff published in the musical theatre world). Has anyone else found this on a recent Peters score? If so, it could be time to start complaining loudly - this seemed to have some effect with Dover Edition who have gone back to proper stitched bindings for at least some of their scores.

I heard the price of paper went up but publishers kept the selling price the same.  They compensated by making the bindings cheaper.
