Mozart A minor sonata K310
on: January 28, 2010, 12:06:52 PM
Before any of you listen it is important to say the following:

1) I am an amateur pianist

2) my recordings sound like "wax discs" - prinicipally because:

  • I play an out of tune Kawai upright
  • They are made in my lounge room with a 15$ mic using free audacity software

3) in line with point 2 there is extreme distortion with extreme volume

Now we've got that out of the way, I feel a few may be enchanted by sections of my playing (and a few others may be disgusted ;D)

The 1st movement is rather poor by my standards. It has been over a year between reads of the 2nd movement and around 2 years since I played the 3rd. The recording is a 2nd read of the 2nd movement, but a 1st read of the 3rd. There is no editing (surprise :o) so at any point I stuff up I have to start from the beginning. One final thing. This is a read from an extremely dog eared score. Page turning is a problem - excuse the pauses and errors around the page turns.

No one is more critical of my own playing than me, so I can take any comments EXCEPT about the recording quality. Do not bore me with that!!!! ::)

I think you should get a good teacher. And some ear training/aural training/solfege. Both!!!
I think that you really could benefit from it. You have just no clue about rhythm, but this can be changed :) You have no clue about the specific Mozart style and notation. But this can be changed :)
You have many, and good possibilities as a pianist. But please don't waste your time anymore with just stumbling around, having no clue. Okay? :) Sometimes I think there is nothing sadder than people who have a talent and don't really live up to their potential  :'(
