What is your favorite TV show?

Just curious.
If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

I really like Criminal Minds and Bones, and have recently started watching Fringe.

I've watched the first two seasons of Heroes.

Used to like Family Guy, but I still appreciate the Simpsons way more; such a clever show.

My brother lent me a few seasons of 'How I met Your Mother' and it's pretty damn funny.

Robot Chicken.

I have a really strange sense of humor and some of the clips on Robot Chicken leave me dying of laughter.

I have a couple. I really like Red Dwarf and Star Trek.

And I think I watched seasons 3-9 of X files three times over by now. Season 9 sucks. Derp.

Is there something else to this thread besides making lists?

There was, although the correlary topics have all been shoved down far enough to where it becomes nothing more than what you describe.

Arrested Development, Curb your Enthusiasm, The Life and Times of Tim, Dark Place, Look Around You, 12 oz. Mouse, Home Movies, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Sealab 2021, Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, Upright Citizen's Brigade

I don't really waste my time with the "idiot box". I like watching some documentaries and true stories when they are on though.

There's the general idea that 99% of television is crap, and while I won't say that's false (regardless of exact numbers) it is no excuse to call the remaining 1% the same. Television as a thing is something I don't like, and can't stand it most of the time, with commercials and stupid reality shows, irrelevant news and empty sitcoms with canned laughter.

But there are television shows, series and documentaries that I'd call works of art.

Arrested Development is probably my favorite, Carl Sagan's Cosmos is another, and as far as American television goes, X-Files, Lost, Dexter, Mythbusters, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Six Feet Under. But I'm a big fan of British television too: Spaced (from the guys of Shaun of the Dead) is a masterpiece of comedy, The Office, Extras, Black Books, Monthy Python's Flying Circus, The IT Crowd, Flight of the Conchords (not British, but similar style) and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace Hospital; and some dark crime/mystery/drama/science fiction stuff like Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes and Messiah.

Space Ghost and Sealab are hilarious, but as much as I like 30 Rock I wouldn't say it's that funny.

I don't think that you're supposed to answer here; it's about favo(u)rite American TV shows. Surely you knew that?(!)...

Anyway, since I've gotten this far, I may as well answer.

No.

I'll shut up now and leave it to those who have something to say...

Same. If I want to watch a TV show, there's Hulu.  8)

I like to watch documentaries (mostly about history), but I like the Simpsons and Family Guy.

I have been watching The Twilight Zone recently and it is one of my favorite shows.

I enjoy The Simpsons, House, and anything poker...but my all-time favourite presently (and for the past few years) has to be Top Gear.
