Wrists in pain.
on: February 01, 2010, 07:58:00 PM
I restarted to play the Hanon exercises, until now I am playing from No. 1 to 5.  However, something curious is happening, in some passages or in some repetions, my wrists start to pain a little.

Is this normal?, because when I play other piano pieces but Hanon, there is no pain.

Why is it happening? Is there a solution or the solution is inside of the exercises?

you need a qualified teacher to show you how to strike a note freely and release tension. strike release, strike release, etc.  hannon learned by yourself without the right technique can cause havoc.

Pain with all fingers or only with extension of 4º and 5º? Tendinitis? "No pain, no gain"... but I say: with pain, no gain. Stop Hanon.

Well, exactly I don't have pain with all of my fingers, that would mean that my fingers are stronger enough, right?  I only have pain with the wrists in some passages.

I would recommend seeing a doctor and do wrap your wrists up with those elastic
wraps to lessen the motion of your wrists.  Do not lift nor do anything that would
strain your wrists.  Playing the piano should not ever be painful anywhere and at
anytime.  I play 3 instruments and experience no pain on my wrists at all.
Do see a doctor ASAP, get it checked and then you will not have the pain that you are
having how.  Let your hands and wrists take a break until you see your doctor.
Yesterday was the day that passed,
Today is the day I live and love,Tomorrow is day of hope and promises...
