on: February 04, 2010, 07:41:01 PM
Are there any easily findable out there?

I'm thinking melodic asending, descending, in thirds.

We do not teach melodic mode any more, nor will you find it in the literature. Harmonic mode is now and has been standard for many years.

Tausig's selection of 29 studies from Clementi's Gradus ad Parnassum contains the major and melodic minor scales in thirds:

(They start at page 110.)

:-\  Huh?  Harmonic minor for harmonies.  Melodic minor for scales (melodies).  Natural... because it's there.  ::)

I guess it is a little odd to think a scale mode with chords.

I see this as being equal to the melodic minor scale...
i iio III iv V VI viio i   ascending  (though now I'm wondering about IV...)

i bVII VI V iv III iio i

It sounds ok for triads.  I've got major thirds down as a scale so I want to get something down with minor scales in thirds.  And chromatic too.  I was wondering if someone already had fingerings listed somewhere, although it is interesting to come up with my own too.
