MIDI Input/Output
on: February 06, 2010, 02:14:00 AM
I recently bought a E-MU midi1x1 Tab and the ports fit correctly on my Yamaha YPT-310 keyboard, though I can't get the connection to work between my computer and the instrument. Help, please.

Would need more info to be of specific help.  What OS? What program?

A Windows computer can have multiple MIDI IN/OUT ports, you have to make sure you are choosing the correct one.  You can do so in Control Panel and also in the options of the program you are using.

If you want to record MIDI from Keyboard to computer, you need to go MIDI OUT from keyboard and MIDI IN on the E-MU.

MIDIOX is a good free tool you can use to troubleshoot MIDI connections

I think you have to set the keyboard to "global off" or something like that.  The keyboard sends a signals to the computer which sends a signals back to the keyboard and tells it to sound that note.

And the software has to be set up too.
