Yamaha CLP-130?
on: February 08, 2010, 02:43:48 PM
I'm a parent of two young children taking piano lessons, ages 7 and 9, with more children that will likely also take lessons as they get older.  We currently have an old upright piano that was a "freebie" from someone else.  The thing can barely stay in tune for very long.

I was thinking of getting a digital piano with a good "feel" to the keys (graded hammer, from my research).  I would never be able to spend a ton of money, but I was thinking that eventually I might get a nice Yamaha DGX-series digital piano for $800-1200.

I've just been given the opportunity to purchase a used Yamaha Clarinova CLP-130 digital piano for $500.  This seems a large discount off of the original price, though the CLP-130 first came out 7 years ago or so.

Should I jump on this?  Or would I be better off waiting until I could afford to spend a bit more on a new DGX-series digital piano?  I don't think I'll be able to purchase a new Clarinova (for $2000+).

Thanks.
