Is there a program like Sibelius that is free? for Mac OSX?

You can try Finale Notepad, but I am not sure that is for Mac. It is free, though.

I found a program called MuseScore which is excellent, in case anyone else is looking for software like this.

Yep, I believe the MuseScore folks recently rolled out a port for OS X. Used to be Windows only.
