Schumann: Sicilian opus 68 no 11
on: February 12, 2010, 03:43:09 PM
I have listened to the recording in pianostreet of this piece, and to whoever recorded it I would like to pose a question: - well played, but why do you stop at the bottom of the first page?
I have studied the sheet music, and as far as I can see, the piece should not stop there, in the fermata with the strange ending chord (also, the note G, before the fermata, should be longer.)
At the end of page 2 it says 'D C al Fine sensa replica', which means we should continue (without repetition) to approx. the middle of page 2, where it says 'Fine'.

I just listened to the recording as well and you are correct, the piece should have continued on to the fine. It stopped 9 bars short (if you count the pick-up note).

Looks like it's back to the studio for this one.
