Staic Discharge, Static Electricity Resetting my Studiologic (Fatar) Vmk-188+
on: February 16, 2010, 12:38:59 AM
Found a solution to this. Use a 'static strap' (like for handling RAM memory chips: $5.00). Attach the alligator clip onto the metal of the USB plug between the keyboard and the computer. Strap the other end of it to your ankle.
Oh, what was the problem? OK, I'm sitting practicing at my keyboard, starting to sweat a little. I stop and pull off my big sweater (cotton? linen? poly?). I hear and feel several SNAPS of static discharge as I'm doing it. And my Vmk RESETs just like a power off/on. About one in four times I have to re-boot my computer to get things working again. Vmk keyboard, it has a plastic case.
Anyway, 'static strap' fixes it. Can rip off the sweater -no problem.
