Concerto for an imaginary orchestra
on: February 21, 2010, 01:28:10 AM
From the tapes. I date this 2001-2002, my earliest upload yet.

It is the typical sound you might hear coming out of my room in this period. I had (have) a Clavinova and a Roland thing that could hook into it with various sounds and effects. On the Roland I could play with pitches and tunings, and if I turned up the Clavinova I could hear both at the same time. I had a lot of fun with this - too much fun! This particular one was recorded, and so I present a document of the union of the imagination of my little world (interspersed with Bach's) with my two hands on a Clavinova with an electronic toy.

Make what you will out of it. ;D

(Sorry if I'm posting too much! I should pace myself.)

WIERD. FUN.  FANTASMAGORICAL.  I thoroughly enjoyed that!  Only the very end seemed to ramble a bit too long.  Did I hear a quote of Campanella there somewhere?
You're great!

Haha, good word, FANTASMAGORICAL. Thanks! 8) I've never actually played Campanella, but it did make a contorted appearance, and I wondered if people would catch it. I thought about cutting a lot of that end off, but didn't know where to stop it, so left it. At the point I did stop it, the tape got going into practice of some actual music (which helped me date the tape) - procrastination over.  :D

That's really fun to listen to :) Sometimes it made me laugh out loud :) quite a lot of quotes :)

Somewhere Rach 2, 3d mvt, the beginning of the solo...;D Yes Campanella. And Bach first fugue. And some Chopinesque things...

Thanks Wolfi, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I didn't catch the Rach 2! I don't know if that's actually what it is; it is certainly a dramatic gliss type run, and for me an aural pleasure. It is so long ago, who knows what I was thinking.  ;D
