1st Chicago Amateur Piano Competition
on: February 22, 2010, 02:58:14 AM
March 1st is the deadline for early-bird registration for the 1st Chicago Amateur Piano Competition. This first ever midwest amateur competition will take place in June 2010. Special topics of interest to pianists, as well as Chicago's annual "Taste of Chicago" and the glories of being in the heart of Chicago during festival time, will enrich the essential amateur experience. Go to (
www.chicagopianocompetition.org
) for details. We are looking forward to seeing - and hearing you in June.

Reading the requirements, even opera hack pianists like myself can participate. Because it says you can't make your living by performance. I'd love to do it if it weren't for my last operation which is going to take months to get over. In a way, though, it doesn't seem fair. Even though it's not performing, at work, I can be at the piano 5 hours a day. It's a wonderful initiative, though.
