Traveling for Auditions
on: February 26, 2010, 02:15:06 PM

Yes, recording is an option, but sometimes it only counts as a pre-screening and some schools require a live audition.  But in the circumstance that you have to go on long road trips (preferable) to travel, how do you account for all the school you miss?  I've come to a rough estimation that it would take a little less than TWO MONTHS to travel to every school, as the audition dates are so close together.  As I live in the US, my school penalizes for more then 11 absences, and if I don't pass the exam, I fail the semester.  How does one travel at this extended time for auditions, and make up for school?  Does your high school grant you special permission cause it is college related, or what?

Thank you,
Paul

...the solution is, don't apply to every school possible. It sounds like that's what you're planning to do - or close to it anyway - and that's not a wise way of doing it I'm sure.

I don't know if it's your school's case, but when I was auditioning, my school allowed absences for auditions.  You just need to tell them in advance, and maybe provide some documentation.
