Piano Recital Program
on: March 02, 2010, 06:05:59 PM
Somebody else posted a thread like this, so I was just curious of your thoughts about my recital program for May:
Beethoven Sonata F Major Op. 10 No. 2
Alkan Etude in G Major Op. 35 No. 3
Chopin Ballade in F Major Op. 38
Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin
Encore options: Brahms Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 2, Griffes Scherzo from Fantasy Pieces, Schumann "Grillen" from "Fantasiestücke" Op. 12 No. 4, Alkan Etude in F Major Op. 35 No. 5 "Allegro Barbaro", or Alkan Prelude in E Flat Minor "Song of the Madwoman on the Seashore" Op. 31 No. 8.

I'd come to it. I don't want to sway you, but Alkan's Allegro Barbaro is easily one of the most entertaining couple minutes in the history of music. I say if you've got the flair, the precision (relative...I mean I give an A for going for it) and the endurance, then go for it..and jump up give a quick salute to the audience and run off the stage all in one dramatic motion. That'd be killer.
