Tips/ideas on transcribing?
on: March 06, 2010, 03:15:12 AM
I've got something I'd like to transcribe.  I think.

I was listening to two recordings of it.  I think one is compressed -- audio compression, not the compture file mp3-type compression, compressed where they squished the two x% so everything else could be louder.

That does bring out a little more, doesn't it?  Not a bad idea to compress/squash a recording, make a version that way, so you can hear more, is it?

Any more tips?  I've got an audio slowing down program.  That's helpful.

And then...?  Start with melody and bassline?  Figure out chords and fill them in?

You can try one of the transcribing software programs.  I downloaded Twelve Keys awhile back.  It certainly doesn't do the legwork for you, but it's pretty neat.

What does it do then?
