New to proper study and practice
on: March 12, 2010, 01:37:13 PM
hi
am new to the forum so hey everyone :)
well i have been playing keyboards not exactly piano for quite sometime now but i have never had a proper lesson on fingering or reading sheet music or anything
i learned by my self few things like how to read (which i am really slow at) also chords and scales
and i wanted to have a proper teaching BUT due to some circumstances i can't get a proper teacher to give me what i need
i got the CD Sheet Music 50 book of practice which contain Hanon, Berens , Czerny , Burgmuller , Plaidy  and many others
what i need to know is
what should i start with to get proper hand position and finger independence and strength
and to put me on the start of the road of the classic and to be able to play more classical pieces
well i know it is a lot to ask but i hope that won't bother you
and thanx in advance

Since you don't have access to a teacher, videos are probably the best way to go for things like hand position, etc. Either youtube videos or an actual video course. These things can be difficult to fully understand when going from a still picture or worse, a text description in a book, but in a good video you'll be able to see where the hands are, how they move and rest, and so on.
