Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges. Why did you only give those options in the poll? I could think of many more that some people would think would be more hardcore than the choices you gave.

Schubert D. 894 is like, totally RAD.
If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

And D. 887...Oh my. Four instruments and the world cannot contain it.
Don't let anyone know where you tie your goat.

Who else should there be?:  I can add to it.

Sadly, there are composers around today who can't play an instrument (I don't mean can't play really well, that would be most composers now and over the last 150 years, but can't really play at all). And it shows, not in a good way either.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

"Which Composer is the Most Hardcore?"

That's one of the most meaningless questions I've heard in a long time! "Hardcore" in what sense? Since they have all been dead for a long time, I imagine that most of their cores are pretty hard... :)

Well, basically, since this is the "non-piano" section, I wanted to ask an essentially meaningless question and see how everybody would interpret it.  If you think it pertains to how long they have been dead, then go ahead and vote on that premise.

LOL, "hardcore" is not a word I'd ever think to use for describing any of them.

That doesn't necessarily matter peter, just go with your gut instinct.

Piano Street Magazine:
The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
