Suggestion for piano street.
on: March 19, 2010, 05:08:13 AM
I think the chat room should be opened again. I really liked it and I think that it could attract more activity in this forum.
The reason this thread is in this board is because I think more people can see it. Just a suggestion for the mods.

When the chat room WAS open, hardly anyone came in to visit, so if there is enough
members that want the chat room to reopen, I'm sure Nils will reconsider.

I really miss the chat room.
It used to be very fun like a year ago, and I met some of my best friends there.
Is it possible to bring it back?

And the page. No more chatroom. People used to organize their own chats with IM software.

So the chat room was eliminated, and even the ability to change the forum's appearance to something other than light-text-on-dark-background was removed.
"Use it or lose it" appears to have been the justification in both cases, but fewer options and features can be predicted to result in lower traffic and less activity. That doesn't seem to make sense (unless, of course, that's what was intended).

I miss the chat...
I think it would attract more people too, if there's a chatroom here. A year ago there were lots just visiting chat and not exactly posting much on the forums. Just hanging out.

How about making a list or a poll for those who want the chat room back?
Then we'd know how many voted for chat room.

People wanted it before but not so many used it.
Why not set something up somewhere else? That's what happened before the chat thing here. Someone set a date and time and place.

Maybe if enough people wanted it, the boss would put it back.

Setting up a time and place somewhere else is a good idea, I think. People come here at too many different times for one to be up indefinitely.

If the chat room is ever to reopen, it should only be open only through the forum. After I joined PS a year ago, I noticed that outsiders(after they join PS with the intent to hang out only in chat room) can enter chat with their password that didn't post here at all as ongoing members. I recall one person was in chat at a certain time of the day but never entered in the main forum here nor posted anything.
