From my mother, who has been a brilliant concert piano performer, I`ve received after her death a lot of sheet music, including many technical books. Among them, I have "Gradus ad Parnassum", Kulak octaves studies and "60 studi per pianoforte" by Cramer-Bulow. They are editions of <> 1900, edited by Bruno Mugellini with a great number of footnotes.
When I was young, my teacher never asked me to play these exercises. With him, it was only Hanon and Czerny. I think I am at level <>8. Neverthless, I`m an always unsastified performer, always searching more perfection. My wish and dream are to play better, better and better until I dont know what limits. I think MUSIC merits this. And also Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin...
So, what I ask, namely to the members of this forum who are teachers, is if anyone knows Cramer-Bulow and Kulak exercises and if I can obtain some improvement with them. And the same about Gradus ad Parnassum. Are they "musical" exercises or only technical exercises like Hanon? Must I practise Kulak Octaves exercises or must I go to some Chopin "etudes"? I would like to put here one performance of mine but dont know how... Your advices would be very importants for me.
Thanks.
