Buena Vista Social Club Chan Chan
on: April 22, 2010, 09:01:49 AM
Hi everybody!
This is my band and me playing and improvising on Chan Chan (Buena Vista):
or by looking for "The Steamrollers Chan chan (Buena Vista)" on youtube
Piano street is awesome I've discovered it this morning! This is my first post! I hope you'll enjoy the video!!
We experienced many rythme changes while improvising. You can here the real tune at the begining, then we put funky rythme, then madrugada...
I'm the piano player in the video.
Please tell me what you think about it! thank you in advance!
Jack!!

As you can guess from the lack of comments, this board has mostly classical piano players on it. An effort such as yours should not go unappreciated.
You have a lot of talent on that stage. What you need to do is give each player some space. Your original improvisation is drowned out by the drummer AND vice verso. The bass player couldn't be heard. Make some sort of agreement as to the rotation. For example, bass and drums do something simple while you play then you and the bass back the drums, etc.
Remember any art must be coherent.
