Hi all,
It's been a while since I was in this room...
I thought you may want to see the unusual teaching style of Andrej Jasinski (Krystian Zimerman's teacher). I played this etude for him at a master class a few months ago. Watch him starting 0:53, when he begins to conduct and dance the etude, giving instructions and making comments with gestures and movements that I was following out of the corner of my eye. Very cool. Let me know what you think.

I also played Nocturne Op 62 No 2 for him the same day, but he chose not to dance to that one. His lesson was wonderful, by the way. OK, here is the link to the Nocturne as well:

nice playing of Op.25, very melodic.

how long have you been learning that etude?
Playing Piano is the easiest thing in the world, All you have to do is have the right finger on the right key at the right moment.

Thanks, Frank. I prepared this etude for the master class because it didn't look like the nocturne might be enough to fill the lesson. I didn't practice it all that long - maybe a couple of days. The Op 62 nocturnes are a lot more challenging.

No! More than 2 days. I used "a couple" to mean a few... Maybe a week or so. It's not one of the tough ones.

I've been playing since before I was 5. Also, I have read through the Chopin etudes more than once, so I know all of them quite well (not to play in a concert, but I can play through them).
