I have no idea, because he was not around when this type of music was composed. But, in the second movement of his last sonata (Op. 111), he DOES have a boogie-woogie sort of section, hehe.

Oh also, I liked your playing. If that's original, things like that could make you popular.

And why, may I ask, can't I say I found it boring?!  I didn't intend to hurt his feelings!  He asked what we thought of it.   Where's YOUR problem?!

I didn't intend to hurt his feelings!

Often times, replies like that chase new members away from a forum. Now if it were someone who had been here longer, then I wouldn't say anything. Not only using the adverb "very" but capitalizing it didn't help either.

Heu guys..its ok....Even Beethoven had his critics...lol...I know its not v fluent n there isnt really ne RH to speak off...but I liked the chord progressions.....no worries Birba!...I have done some otha vids, you may like.Im not just a boogiewoogie nut(Altho it defo is not boring to play)..I love some classical,in particular Beethoven,Chopin n Liszt....but have come across vv few classical players who can play blues etc with natural feel.Certainly many top notch Classical players ive met could not even improvise round a straight 12 bar...which I find strange....

Uhm... Boogie and classical music is really not the same thing, so I don't see why it's strange...
Plenty of blues pianists are really crappy at the classical, soo...
Though, I still don't get how We should know what Beethoven would like this. No offence, but "a nice chord progression"  probably would impress him very much, and (no offence again) especially not when it's not a very original progression.

But hey, everybody is different...
And welcome to pianostreet. :)

...hmm well i did grade 8 wen i was 16 n then spent 20 years undoing most of what i was taught. No theyre not similar altho boogie is so simple n repetative,n blues is very easy to comprehend theoretically I find it funny that people who ive known who can REALLY play some of the hardest Liszt stuff, stutter n stumble round 3 simple chords.Still I cant really talk,I couldnt begin to play Liszt,I think Pathetique sonant was the hardest piece i eve learned..

I think he wouldn't mind a good ole boogie every once in a while :) (Actually I think he would sometimes even prefer that to his own Bagatelle WoO 57 argh I mean 59 ;D)

hi james,  agree with you thAt classicaly trained person will have problem improvising in simple chords.
i think the reason is;

in classic music it has a lot of detail and the player must train his brain and hands very hard to play each note. and then have the wanted effect that is in the score. your doing things very strict. bcs you intend to copy all (timing, notes etc.)

in bogie and pop, you experiment or know the emotion (effect)
of each chord and the using notes in the chord you can create your own arpeggios that will fit. can even add 2nd. the challenge is  i think focusing on how to make it unique, which the early composers are very sucesfull,  watch this vid a good improvisetion so far in Canon by pachelbel,(improvised by Klye). sory 4 my bad english.

Geez! What's up with all the negative atmosphere around classical musicians?! Boogie-piano and classical piano isn't even near the same thing. And most classical ppl I know doesn't even like boogie! And how should we be good improvising something that sucks?
And boogie-pianists has obviously been training on hitting like 7 notes on a 3-chord-form in years. OFC THEY'RE BETTER AT IT!

And since we classical pianists are way better than you at playing classical music, we are better than you anyway soo...

I'm a little confused, and it could be my lack of knowledge, but is THIS boogie woogie? I'm judging replies. I would have just thought it was just nice and bluesy.

Beethoven? He played off of what was popular and what was around him, like Rossini and such. Surely he'd have a clever response to modern music.

But in terms of modern music, I might wonder too what he'd make of everything ranging from the Bartok string quartets, to Boulez's (orchestrally expanded) Notations and the large orchestral sonorities of Xenakis?

Ah, it matters little really...Beethoven is dead. What do YOU think about it all?
Don't let anyone know where you tie your goat.

Is that that slow pianist guy?  He certainly is appassionato for the piano.  You have to give him that much credit.

Usually - I'd say yes... you're right - he's passionate about the piano, let's help the guy achieve those goals... but NO. He doesn't seem to give a sh!t about taking advice from anyone and challenges anyone who gives him criticism.

If he's appassionato for the piano - he needs to find himself another *** teacher!!! Because if he had my teacher - she'd tell him to stop screwing about and pull his head out of his arse.

He may be passionate, but he's NEVER, EVER going to get close to becoming a performer, or even someone who can play with quality.

We hit a nerve in Pianisten's achilles' heel.  We've wandered from the thread and are talking about another person.  The slowpianist guy.
I can't say anything about the original thread because I was rebuked for saying it was boring.  actually I said BORING.

True... that's probably my fault. I just saw the topic title and had just finished listening to slow's attempt at the Appasionata sonata and thought - what would Beethoven think?

Anyway, who's to say if Beethoven would have liked Boogie or Jazz...

What I WOULD HAVE loved to see is Beethovens face with Twentieth Century Atonal music and harsh dissonance...

Although, considering he started losing his hearing in his thirties and fourties - he probably wouldn't have anything to say - cause he was deaf.

I would also loved to have seen Bachs face listening to Chopins music for the piano considering that Bach thought the piano was just going to be a fad and die out.

Well it's a very hypothetical question basically inquiring what a great composer
of another time with a very different music, will think about a current mode...
the boogie-woggie or jazz ?  Surely it will elicit as many varied answers, positive
and negative as the number of responders. It is a little puzzling though what the
the whole point of the question is ... since anyones answer could be right ...
purely speculative.

Now if you ask me ;D ....  wow!! I like the beat and the way you played it ...
sort of puts you in the mood for other things... ;)  NICE playing indeed !!!
