Best/Skilled Pianists in the world?
on: April 26, 2010, 01:10:58 PM
Self-explanatory.
In your opinion, who plays the best?
Before you go posting, there are some reminders:
1. I recommend you to post at least one recording of your choice for us to hear.
2. Of course, explain why you choose that pianist.
3. You can also post the names of pianists who are not necessarily the best, but are otherwise experienced and extremely skilled ones.
My choice: Bobby Enriquez
A late Filipino jazz pianist, he was known internationally and started playing at the age of two. As a child prodogy Enriquez had a professional career at the age of 12 and ran away from home at the age of 14.
Enriquez became prominent in the United States of America and became a born-again Christian, playing hymns in several churches. He was also a martial arts expert, following the Manila Street Brawl School, and according to wikipedia, he had reflexes comparable to that of Bruce Lee, which was probably the cause for his skill on the piano.
He was entitled the "Madman" or "The Wild Man" (from which my name comes from).
He may not be the greatest pianist who ever lived, but probably the best in the Philippines and probably among the best jazz pianists in the world. Some of his performancs that amused me are
"Flight of the Bumblebee" (improvised)
- "Misty"
&feature=related - "Could it Be Magic"
&feature=related - "Spain"
&feature=related "Tango"
The reason why I am imperssed is because his lightning-quick playing can reflect me being constantly irritated by the busy modern world.
There are many more in youtube and much more recordings (though you'll have to download them).
P.S. I'm actually a Filipino who migrated to UK for three years now and am quite a fan of him.
