Hi, I'm new here :)
on: May 09, 2010, 04:30:37 PM
Hi, I've been playing the keyboard/piano for about 4 years but kinda drifted away from it 2 years ago. But now I've decided to dust off the ole Roland EP.75 and start playing again! I printed a few song sheets of yesterday from 8Notes.com and started playing the basic songs.
People say playing a piano is like riding a bike... Not for me! I'm having to learn how to read music fluently again! Argh! Oh well, maybe the reason I forgot how to read it was because I stopped playing last time,
just
after I learnt to read it! So it probably hadn't "sunk in" yet. But this time I'm gonna learn and stick to it!
As I said before, my keyboard is a Roland EP.75 Digital Piano (made in 1997) and I love it. I bought it for £70 ($103) from a second hand store 2 years ago. I imagine it cost about £300 in todays money back in '97 though, as it has almost all the options they had available back then (record, numerous instrument effects, metronome and other things)
. It's the baby brother of the EP series (EP.95 was the best, biggest one. EP.85 was the medium performance and medium size one. EP.75 was the smallest one, but just as good as the slightly bigger EP.85 in performance!). It has 45 keys (excluding the black keys), or 76 keys (including the black keys) so it's not no 5 year olds keyboard! It's for serious players. It has different instrument selections, though I stick to the piano ones. Grand Piano and Upright Piano. Usually Upright Piano but when I'm playing a "posh" song I switch to Grand, haha! I really love that ole keyboard! Great! It's barely been used at all. It came with the original EP.95 EP.85 EP.75 manual in numerous languages and in a hard case! Oh and an aftermarket sustain pedal and stand. Love it, Love it, Love it! Best keyboard ever!
Anyone else have a Roland keyboard ? Or do you all have proper piano's ? If you all do I hope I'm still welcome...
Anyhoo! I'd better stop boring you guys with a LOONNGGG introduction! Please reply if you wish, and I hope to be a good member of this group soon!

Welcome
well, playing the piano is not like riding a bike, so don't worry about that.
And it's a piece, not a song.. unless you sing it
Good luck with everything!
