Suzuki Violin for Mandolin?
on: May 19, 2010, 03:54:30 PM
Hello, everyone. Lately, I've become very interested in classical mandolin. Probably because of this video alone.
I've never before realized how well the Mandolin works as a classical instrument. But Chris Thile here definately proves its capabilities.
Ever since viewing that marvelous video, I've been interested in learning the mandolin. But, there aren't that many methods out there from which to learn the mandolin, and not many teachers either. The ones that are out there are more focused on bluegrass mandolin.
Then I remembered how similar the violin is to the mandolin and wondered, could I teach myself from the Suzuki violin method at least how to be a competent mandolinist? I certainly wouldn't want to be up to conservatory level, for that I'd definitely need a teacher, but do you think Suzuki method would work well for this?

Why do you need a method?
