My favorite foods are milk and all food made from milk  :P . And my second favourite foods are all vegetables (which I know is weird :) ) and all sweets (which I know is not healthy  ::) ). And I eat too much sweets (more than vegetables) because it's a lot easier and quicker to get sweets than vegetables :) And my mum is really not happy about that! So the best thing to eat for me is a lot of different vegetables and a lot of cheese over it!! :)  :P  :P

Mmmmmm..... cheese....  I had this wonderful cheese sample at the grocery store the other day - compte.  But it was $17 per lb, so I just said "yummm" and moved along.

I'm a huge fan of a nice juicy, medium rare burger.  Grilled over charcoal.   And I love a good steak too.   Godiva truffles are a favorite.  And a nice malbec or tempranillo.

I love japanese food, but can't cook it. I enjoy cooking and eating italian food, but I don't like using recipes much, I just improvise on the basic ingredients and on what my mom and grandma taught me.  :)

It's my birthday today, so mum is gonna cook a gigantic Sunday Roast.

I will then consume my cake and wash it all down with a gallon of ale. After this, I will fall asleep on the sofa and snore my head off for a few hours.

Complete joy.

Well, happy birthday to you, Sir, and many hapy returns!

...or be carted off to the emergency ward! Do for goodness' sake be carfeul with your diet, old chap!

I shall raise a glass here in your honour this evening - but it will not be of ale or anything remotely akin thereto!...

I have to agree with you on that one. All of those exotic japanese ingredients are like impossible to find. I am the oposite of you not liking to use recipes. I love using Italian cookbooks. I like Molto Italiano by Mario Batali. I love to cook.

Strange.  I, too, enjoy Japanese and Italian cooking.  My favorites.  But I'm coming around full circle and I SO enjoy good old american cooking.  I have a great cook book called "America the Beautiful Cookbook" - with photographs to die for.  Mississippi Mud Cake, Cole Slaw, Shrimp Creole, Crabcakes, Potato Salad, and, yes, even Tuna fish and noodle casserole...
