CHOPIN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION 2005
on: December 07, 2002, 11:35:17 AM
HI
is anyone thinking about competing in the International chopin competition in Warsaw?

If so what is your age and when are you going to start preparing and what do you think you will play?
Please discuss anything about the competition or chopin pieces, what you like best or your plan etc.

Thanks

Hi, Frederic! Well, I have vaguely thought of competing in the Chopin competition in 2005. I am 17 now, so I will be 19 or 20 when the competition happens. I'm really not sure that I will enter it (I haven't looked at the repertoire requirements in a LONG time!).  2005 is the same year that the next Van Cliburn Competition happens. I would rather work toward that competition than the Chopin I think.... but I'm not sure! Are you planning on entering the Chopin one? =) If you live in the USA, you might want to look into the a $1000 dollar scholarship that American National Chopin society offers to young pianists... they try to support young people hoping to competed in the National (and maybe International) Chopin Piano Competitions. The website is www.chopin.org
