Nowhere, I'm afraid... :) (And I hope :P ) Lol

No, seriously, personal teaching is irreplaceable.

Websites offering online piano lessons should be avoided with as much vigour as websites offering cheap drugs.

Both are worthless and possibly dangerous.

I teach piano online using Skype for quite some time and, believe it or not, I can witness faster improvements than with “traditional-in person” lessons (with the same students, of course).
It may be that the lesson is more focused ( no chit-chat, for ex.) , that the student has to pay more attention to instructions “from the other end of the cable”, or that he/she are alone with the instrument, without being distracted by a teacher-presence.

I think Thal simply summed it up. It was so good a quote, that I felt I had to quote it again, especially after reading what the last poster wrote.

There is something that I'm not sure I'm picturing right.  Are you saying that you have students who live in your geographic area and so take in-person (in-studio) lessons with you, but other times these same students study with you on Skype?  (i.e., you're comparing their progress both ways).

Websites offering online piano lessons should be avoided with as much vigour as websites offering cheap drugs.
There are two types of lessons that exist on-line.  The type that is advertised the most on Web-sites consist of prepackaged material - recorded lessons with no interaction.  Sometimes these recorded lessons can be expanded to the students interacting with the teacher.

The other type of of on-line lesson consists of one-on-one interaction on Skype with a teacher.

Which of these are you referring to?
