Suggestion for order of messages in a Topic
on: May 31, 2010, 12:34:48 PM
Hi,
I am not sure if anybody else already suggested that, but it would be nicer if the most recent messages posted for a topic would appear on the first page (page 1) and the oldest on the last pages (pages 28-29-30).
Only the original message - like the one I am creating now - should stay first.
This would be very useful for the long topics which raise many discussions.
What do you think?
Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestion.
There is an option to reverse the order of the posts in a topic:
Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > Show most recent posts at the top
This will also place the initial post at the bottom of the last page which may not be what you were looking for. However, having the initial post first and then all replies in reversed chronological order could be quite confusing.
The main reason for keeping it as it is now (as in most online forums) is that the ideal way to take part in a discussion is to first read the initial post, then read all replies in chronological order and finally, if you have something to add to the discussion, post a reply.
If you have already done so and you just want to see the most recent posts, you could click this icon next to the time stamp of the last post on each board's topic listing:
This will take you directly to the latest post in that topic.
