I can't say I understand why you've posted this. Rachel's playing has improved in leaps and bounds since this performance. I just started this piece myself (see a few threads down in the Audition Room) and my performance is hardly brilliant, butI think Rachel's playing is bit too controlled and measured. The piece is very improvisational, but Rachel's performance doesn't sound that way, neither in the fast arpeggiated sections nor in the slow melodic ones. Don't get me wrong, Rachel is very talented, but this performance does not do her talent justice (unlike some of her more recent videos).
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

One year ago, I told you to play easier pieces, and I think so. She has the technical ability, but not the tone or the depth.
Sooner or later, none will get impressed by her playing fast. Maybe it works now, cause none expects anything else from her... But if you want her to become really good, she needs to develop her own personal musicality, and she wont do that with these kinds of pieces...

Such things come with time and experience...but what kinds of pieces (what better pieces?) would better develop her personal musicality, pianisten? Or how is her playing these pieces now going to harm her development later? It may be reaching now, but I think it will only help her in the future when time, listening, and experience mount up and produce its fruit. She will have something to say, and the time spent on this music now indeed will prove to be worth the time spent.

Don't let anyone know where you tie your goat.
