Any idea of what pieces I should attempt?
on: June 02, 2010, 05:51:10 AM
Hey~!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on some good piano pieces that I would enjoy and that are within my learning range?

So far, I really enjoy Clementi's Op. 36 sonatinas, my favorite being no.3, followed by no.1.  Anything of a similar style around? (I can manage both of those, minus some bits I need to work on and polish.)

I have Mozart's Turkish March and Tchaikovsky's Russian Dance from the Nutcracker Suite... both are a bit hard at the moment, although, I love them both. :)

Thanks in advance!

Take a look to Bernhard posts, there´s one of them with a list of pieces you may enjoy.
Best wishes

Let me guess, it's the section of the Alla Turca with the octaves in the right hand and rolls in the left, right?  That part brings all my colorful language out.   ;D    There are movements in that sonata that are beautiful, have you tried them?  My favorites are variations III, IV and V.   I always hear about people playing the Alla Turca, and nobody playing the rest of the sonata.   It's a shame...
Currently learning:
Chopin Prelude Op. 28, no. 15
Schubert Sonata in A Major, D.959: Allegretto

I haven't, yet...  I'll give them a look sometime though.

At the moment, I've settled with learning Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Oborin's arrangement of Canon in D.  Beautiful pieces, and they don't seem difficult, so I should be able to manage. =D
