do any of you host end of school year fun events?  an opportunity for students to get together with no pressure and bonding as the reason?  I'm interested in some new ideas?

My son's teacher runs end of year workshops. All the kids (and parents/siblings if they are interested) get together and do something new together - last year it was a percussion session, this year they are doing handbells, next year Gamelan. Obviously this takes a bit of organisation and you would need to bring in another teacher to run the workshop, but it seems to work really well - fun, as well as reinforcing their musical skills.

My end of year fun event evolved from my students requesting to do a second concert... We have a Christmas concert where only duets, trios and eight hand pieces are played. The children have a lot of fun doing this and any variations on the performance are encouraged. Timetabling joint practices can be a nightmare so trios and eight hands are only done by school mates who will often be spending time together. It is a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon when it all comes together!!
