Input needed - Top Five "Must Perform" for a Early Advanced (lev. 8)
on: June 06, 2010, 07:59:49 PM
Would appreciate input........what are your top 5 "must play" pieces, I am about a early 8 level. I pick it up very fast, been playing 5 years. Have 10 months to learn, til my next recital.
Was thinking Fantasy Imprt. Chopin, but not sure i have the dexterity......but am I missing other good works? Partial to debussy, like to play fast.
Suggestions appreciated.

It depends what you like. Bach ? Mozart ? Beethoven ? Schubert ? Brahms ? Schumann ? Ravel ? Prokofiev ? Rachmaninoff ?
I'll make some suggestions. But I'm below grade 8. So my suggestions may not be good.
Bach : you can tackle any Prelude and fugue from the WTC.
Beethoven : any sonata from opus 10, opus 14
Mozart : Sonata in C major, KV 330
Schubert : Sonata D.958, D.959 and D.960
Chopin : any Etude from opus 10 and 25.
Brahms : rhapsodies opus 79
i think these are "must play" pieces. Are they around grade 8 ? I think so.
