how do you know if you are good or not?

My question is, how do you know if you are advancing properly or if you are below average? I have been playing 6 mths.

Please, have a look to Stevebod answer about a  Butterfly 79 similar question: "We are all on that same patt, no matter how far or how fast we progress".
